Global Communication Report #4

Training Program for Asian Veterinarians

In this issue, we would like to report our activity of Training Program for Asian Veterinarians.

Dr. Thanakorn Rompo, a veterianrian from the Department of Livestock Development (a research institute under Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Thailand), has been staying at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Hokkaido University for one year under the Training Program for Asian Veterinarians of Japan Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Rompo received training on diagnostic methods for bovine infectious lymphoma, salmonellosis, and anthrax in our laboratory from October 17 to 28. He also participated in the local meeting on the management of infectious diseases in beef farmers, as reported in the recent Global Communication Report #2. He was very interested in the differences in farm management and agricultural cooperative systems between Japan and Thailand. At the end of the training, he gave a presentation on the diagnosis of bovine leukemia virus (BLV) and salmonellosis that he had worked on during the training, as well as on the prevalence of BLV and salmonellosis in cattle farms of Thailand.

Dr. Rompo will continue his training at our veterinary school until next March. Please take care of yourself in the cold winter! We wish you the best of luck with your training!
