We are developing therapeutic strategies that target and modulate immune checkpoint signaling to achieve effective control of refractory infectious diseases and malignancies in animals.

Ticks and poultry red mites are blood-sucking ectoparasites that are serious threats to public health and animal hygiene. We are currently working on the developing novel control measures against these ectoparasites.

To date, the number of reported cases of bovine leukemia virus infection tends to increase in cattle in Japan. Our research activities focus on elucidating the pathogenesis of the infection, establishing effective strategies for its prevention and control in the field, and developing methods to predict disease onset.

Marek’s disease virus causes substantial losses to the poultry industry worldwide, making its prevention and control a major challenge. Our research aims to elucidate the mechanisms underlying disease pathogenesis in infected chickens and to develop more effective vaccines.

We are conducting research that focuses on the immunomodulatory effects of probiotics, such as lactic acid bacteria and butyrate acid bacteria, with the aim of developing novel preventive and therapeutic strategies against animal infectious diseases.
