Global Communication Report #8 - Lecture to vet students from Thailand
*Scroll down for Thai.
On January 16, Ms. Wisa Tiyamanee (from Thailand), a first-year graduate student in our laboratory, gave a lecture to students from Kasetsart University, Thailand, who were visiting Hokkaido University on an exchange program of the International Veterinary Education Program (IVEP) to foster human resources for veterinary medicine.

First, a group discussion was held on the issue of bovine infectious disease, and Ms. Wisa participated as one of the facilitators. After that, Ms. Wisa gave a lecture about bovine leukemia, which causes serious problems in Japan in the Thai language. She explained that outbreaks of bovine leukemia have been confirmed in Thailand and that they should be careful in the future.
Ms. Wisa also participated in an exchange program four years ago as an undergraduate of Chulalongkorn University and spent several months at Hokkaido University, where she attended lectures that deepened her interest in the study of infectious diseases of livestock and led to her decision to enter the PhD program at Hokkaido University. She is currently working on the reaearch for control of chronic infectious diseases of livestock in our laboratory.
I believe that the day is not far off when the visiting students and Ms. Wisa will become leading veterinarians for the future development of livestock production and public health in Thailand.
