【国際交流レポート11】Tick Hunting
(reported by Dr. Bruno Moraes)
Since I arrived here in Japan, I have searched for the full Japanese experience, because when I go back to Brazil, I MUST be able to tell my Japanese history. A part of my Japanese history is tick hunting. When I was an undergraduate student, Konnai-sensei came to Brazil and told many stories about ticks, mountains, and of course the Hokkaido bears in his seminary. His speech inspired me and my friends to continue our research, and one day come here to Japan and see for ourselves the beautiful Japanese mountains and flag as many ticks as we can.
I would like to say thanks to Konnai-sensei, Matsuno-sensei, and their team for letting me join the explanation about their research. Being able to help in my understanding is one of the best ways to say thanks for everything. I’m very grateful for this experience, Japan changed me forever and as I’ll always help to demonstrate how happy I'm here.
I was really scared about everything, bears, to get attached by the ticks but in the end, everything went good and now I'll be able to tell my own stories about tick hunting. Now I can be considered as a tick researcher!!!
Thanks again,
Bruno
